Molarity of solutions where the concentration of the solution is given in wt %:
[(% x d) / MW] x 10 = Molarity; Where: % = Weight % of the acid; d = Density of acid (specific gravity can be used if a density value is not available); MW = Molecular weight of the acid. Also, Sigma Aldrich has an online calculator which automatically calculates the Molarity and the Normality of the solutions. _ Science is an activity, which involves intellectual and/or practical activity that contains philosophical, logical and systematical studies, of observations, experiments and experiences.
This definition is longer than the usual one that you may find online or in text books as I find this one as a more universal and explanatory one, that is mine. As you would recognize, philosophy is the most important point in that definition, because scientific philosophy or philosophy of science establishes the whole relation between the observed or experimentally determined findings to the conclusions and assumptions, from beginning to the end of the scientific process. Von Maltzahn Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology (HST) and advisor Sangeeta N. Bhatia, in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science proposed and realized a new idea on cancer cell treatment ( on rats ) . The idea was the destruction of tumors through the application of heat and von Maltzahn developed polymer-coated gold "nano-antennas" that can target tumors and convert benign-infrared light into heat. He was also rewarded $30000 for his innovations.http://web.mit.edu/newsoffice/2009/lemelson-mit-0303.html
Another study in Cedars-Sinai Medical Center also revealed promissing results in canver treatment without surgery. Details can be found in the following link. http://cedars-sinai.edu/About-Us/News/Past-Issue-Documents/GTRI-GBMGeneTherapy12-06-04.pdfIt seems like there are significant improvements in the field of cancer treatment. I hope they can save lives by improving these treatments. I have no doubt writing down the first sentences has always been difficult for anyone. To everyone who will be following, or just visiting this blog I would like to say "Welcome!".
In the following days and years, I am truely hoping to be able to communicate my ideas on the emerging science from my point of view and understanding. I would really appreciate to have your kind comments either by the contact form or by the public pad I created for this site.. |
