Are you one of those Crazy Pirates searching, digging, sailing and fighting to find the mysterious chest of Happiness? I believe that the key of the Pandoras' Happy box is hidden right here. It must not be wrong to state that the search for Happiness has been an ongoing process since the beginning of the Human history. We should all admit that the Happiness is what we all crave and is the sole reason that we are working so hard to earn more, to be healthier, to have more friends and to become a better person, unless we are already defecteus-e :). Whereas Happiness is more about sentiments it can be manipulated for short term by affectors from outside. Why do we really want to buy that nice car, house, fancy clothes or other things. For me, all these outer factors can simply be defined as the media or the social effect. Although, I am not a sociologist neither a psycholog I am aware of my needs and how I am being effected by my surroundings. Bias such as these will make you Happier but will not last long. At the point you own the car you will make a peak at your Happiness level, then there will be a continious drop, and in case there will be an accident which will ruin your car you will make a peak in depression probably :) Therefore, I would ask you not to rely on these outer happiness factors and take a look inside your heart. SELF-AWARENESS: Every person has a different journey on the world and some will leave this world with bigger achievements. If you are not aware of yourself, your feelings, your inner thoughts probably you are living your life as it goes with the flow and without giving a lot of thought to how to improve yourself and become a better person. Or, may be you are just close to the point where you will become a self-aware personality. To become more self-aware ask yourself these questions at different situations:
From my own experience, I can say that a twist in your own behavior would lead to great success to find what you seek. Whatever it is! You probably heard many times ``Fake it until you make it!``. My statements are applicable up to an extent and may fail at some extremities. For example, when dealing with people who are highly stressed, or depressed and are not cooperative. At those cases just let it go! Because, we need to accept that not everything is under our control and sometimes we need to be more flexible with ourselves. If you try to deal with a person who seeks professional advice I would recommend you to help them to get to see a doctor and get professional help to come over their chronic depression or anxiety. If this is not possible just stay away from them to protect your own health, which is the most important thing. I will write more about my own experiences and my thoughts about the course as I keep following it. I hope you will enjoy reading The Happy Blog :) Now, please take your time to have a look at what Prof. Dacher has to say about the course content. And subscribe to the course if you are interested in The Science of Happiness :) Happy day! Today, I started to take The Science of Happiness as a registered student online from University of Berkeley, at the Greater Good Science Center. I am really excited to go through this experience and share some notes on the course.
You can find more information of the course by clicking here: The Science of Happiness Instructors will provide knowledge on the effect of genetics, biology and the daily routine on the level of happiness throughout the course. They have studied topics like altruism and empathy, and compassion, mindfulness and gratitude, and they combined their knowledge on these topics to create the course. Years of knowledge on human behavior and scientific research will be explained. I hope that I will be helpful in introducing you some of the knowledge I collect from the course. So let's get started! |
